Initiatives
Cubans
Human Rights Action Group is working with Cuban human rights groups, including Democratic Spaces and CUBA DECIDE, to seek an end to the continuing human rights violations that are being committed against the Cuban people, including mass arbitrary detentions and torture. We work with these groups to combat impunity for past crimes as well as seek an end to continuing violations.
Eritreans
There is longstanding repression in Eritrea. Eritrean forces have been implicated in the commission of crimes against Tigrayans, and Eritreans are subjected to numerous atrocities and gross violations of human rights at the hands of the regime. Human Rights Action Group is working with community groups such as ‘Hidmonna’ – Eritrean-Canadians Human Rights Group of Manitoba to address these issues.
Iranians
Human Rights Action Group is working with Iranian groups, including the Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims, to seek justice for atrocity crimes and human rights violations committed by the Iranian government. By working with the Association in its pursuit of justice, our lawyers are working to relieve the suffering and distress of the families to help them put their lives back together.
Jewish People
Human Rights Action Group is working with Jewish community members and groups that represent terror victims, including Secure Canada, to seek justice for atrocity crimes and human rights violations committed by the Iranian government and its proxies against Jewish people in Israel and around the world. Together, we are seeking justice for victims of the massacre committed by Hamas on October 7, 2023, and the continued atrocities being committed against those held hostage in the Gaza Strip.
Tamils
Human Rights Action Group is working with Tamil groups, including International Tamil Refugee Assistance Network and Tamil Rights Group, to seek justice for continuing atrocity crimes and human rights violations committed against the Tamils in Sri Lanka. We work on accountability initiatives to combat impunity for past crimes, as well as initiatives to seek an end to continuing violations.
Tigrayans
Human Rights Action Group is working with Tigrayan groups, including United Tegaru Canada and Security and Justice for Tigrayans Canada, to seek justice for continuing atrocity crimes and human rights violations committed against Tigrayans in Ethiopia, where arbitrary detentions persist, sexual violence and starvation are used as weapons of war, and there is mounting evidence of genocidal intent by both Ethiopian and Eritrean forces in the region.
Turkish People
