On June 2, 2026, Sarah Teich appeared on the New Forum podcast ‘CounterPoint’ alongside Shahram Golestaneh from the Iran Democratic Association and host Tanya Granic Allen to discuss the conflict between Iran and the US. In particular, Teich discussed the intensifying repression of Iranian dissidents, human rights defenders, and ordinary citizens under the guise of wartime proceedings. She urged Canada to shine more light on how the conflict is impacting the people of Iran, noting that news outlets are reporting on the progress of negotiations and the Strait of Hormuz rather than the impact on Iranians. To that end, she highlighted that the Canadian Government could issue public statements, impose targeted sanctions, and support further Starlink use to the extent that the internet continues to be shut down.
